BRISBANE FLOOD REPAIRS

Brisbane City Council has appointed Abergeldie to its panel of civil construction contractors to carry out important repair work to road, bridge and drainage infrastructure damaged by this year’s disastrous summer floods.

The extent of the flood damage in Brisbane may not be immediately apparent to the casual visitor to the CBD, but you need not look too hard to find see evidence of the floods’ destructive force.  Nearly every district along the Brisbane River and its tributaries suffered. Damage at individual sites varies from minor to extreme.  Collectively the cost of repairs will be enormous.

The repair work is being contracted out by Brisbane City Council in a large number of locally concentrated parcels.  For example, Abergeldie is reinstating the road surface, bridge abutments and pedestrian pathways along The Corso at Oval Downs, Yeronga.  We are working at night in Fortitude Valley to rebuild footpaths and guttering in Roghan Road and Ludlow Street, and during the day along Nordenfeldt Road.  At Kholo Road, we are rebuilding the approaches to the low level road bridge over the Brisbane River.

None of these projects are, individually, major works.  But for local communities they are certainly important.

It’s what Abergeldie’s Mission Statement is all about. “Abergeldie provides the complex infrastructure needed to build a better community.”  At to rebuild communities, too.
